Coming Home!

Garrett and I arrive in Boise Tomorrow at 5:40 PM....I am SO excited! I can't wait to spend time with family, friends, go to Broadway, and go to Sonic (there isn't one in Portland). It is going to be a great break and I can't wait! If you think about us tomorrow please pray for safety as we travel. Thanks and we will see you soon!

Decorating the Tree(s)

This year Garrett and me didn't get a real pine Christmas tree since we are coming home for two weeks for Christmas. We thought it would be a waste of money. But we couldn't go without christmas lights and ornaments, so we improvised and used two of our fake house trees as Christmas trees! It was so fun decorating them last night. Since there were two we each got our own tree to decorate...Garrett's was better! :( hehe. Oh well. Here are some pictures from last night.

November 22, 2007

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I am so excited! We have a 4 day weekend from school and believe me, I really need it. The only thing that I am sad about this Thanksgiving break is that I wish I was heading to Boise, ID right now. I really miss my family and wish I was going to be with them for Thanksgiving. But, I know that Christmas break is coming soon, so I will just have to hold on until then. :)
I think that Garrett and I will have a good Thanksgiving break. We are going to his aunt's house for Thanksgiving Day in Salem, the next day is his birthday and we will be doing some after Thanksgiving shopping, we are going to take our pictures for Christmas cards, and I will just be able to relax and get caught up on some things.
I want to take a moment, like so many do for Thanksgiving, and list some things that I am especially thankful for:
*Salvation *God's faithfulness and love *Garrett (such a great husband) *All of my family (they give me so much love and support) *my wonderful friends *An amazing home church in Boise *Living in America *My health *Love
I would love to hear some of the things that you are thankful for and what you are doing for Thanksgiving or how your holiday went! So, leave me a comment about it!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

Cutest Things

Today Garrett and I went to Best Buy to look at SLR cameras...I am crossing my fingers that we will be able to get one this year! But anyways, there is a Babies R Us right next door. I asked Garrett if we could just go in and look, so that I can get some ideas for the future. He agreed and we had such a fun time looking at the baby nursery decor and bedding sets. We picked out the ones that we want when we have a boy and then a girl.

*Don't worry we are not planning on having a baby anytime soon, but I just enjoy thinking about how I will decorate my future babies' nurseries.*

So here is the set we picked out for our girl. It is called Ladybug:

Here is the one we picked out for a boy. It is called Zanzibar:
These are my dream nursery rooms. Anyways, just wanted to share, because i thought that they were too cute to not. And once again, please do not read into this thinking that we are planning on a little Sanchez baby any time soon, because we aren't. Ok, with that said, good night. :)

This and That

Well, it has happened. It is the time in Portland where it likes to rain every day! I don't mind the rain once in awhile, but to be honest I just really don't like it. I am guessing that it is something that I will just have to get used to. I don't have much to say, I just felt like blogging a little bit. Garrett is at work tonight until 10:30 and I have been all alone since 4:00 PM. I had a lot of cleaning to do, and I got all caught up on that. I also had some time to take a nap and watch some T.V. So, now I can just relax.

Things have been really good for Garrett and me here in Portland. Things are looking up for us. We love Multnomah, our jobs, a new church we found, and each other! My job is offering some kind of cool opportunities. I took some photographs for the Dean for a book that he is writing and that will be published. He said that I will definitely get the photo credits in his book and he will send me a copy when it is finished! Cool, huh?! I was really excited about that.

Garrett and me registered for Spring classes on Thursday. I will be taking: Intro to Spiritual Direction, Intro to Philisophical and Christian Thought, New Testament Gospels, Bible Study Methods, General Psychology, and Social Factors in Relationships. I am pretty excited about most of those, especially the psychology one!

Well, that is pretty much all for now. Not much to say, just enjoying life! :)

Photoshoot

Today I convinced Garrett to let me do a photoshoot of him. He was hesitant at first, because he doesn't really like "modeling." But after he saw the pictures he was glad that he agreed to it. Here is one of the photos that I took at the park where we did the photoshoot. As you can tell, Garrett is not in this photo. I just wanted to show you how gorgeous it was. Just a beautiful, Fall day in Portland. There are about 13 photos that I got of Garrett that I really like. So, there are too many to post on here. Click here to see the photos that I did of Garrett. You'll want to see! Hope you like them!

mY, My I bELieVe tHaT I hAvE FoUnD true LOVE

Today in World Christianity Garrett stole my page of notes while I was writing, and I started to feel a little spark of annoyance, when he gave it back to me... He had written a little note on it that said, "I love you." I just looked at him and smiled. It was so sweet. While pondering on this memory of today, I can't help but think of how wonderful Garrett's and my relationship is. Ever since we have moved to Portland it seems as if we have grown closer. Not only that, but it feels like our relationship is new again.
It was such a struggle for me to move here to Portland. But now that we are here, I am happier than ever. I know this is where God wants us to be right now, and because of that we are both blooming.
I am so glad that Garrett and I waited a year to go to college so that we could get used to the married life a little more and try and save some money. But we both knew that we wanted to go to college and it made that year of working full time in a dead end job very difficult. That also put a little bit of a strain on our relationship. But, like I said we both know that this is where God wants us and where we want to be. Because of this, our relationship is also growing and thriving.
There are so many struggles and sacrifices that we are having to make right now, being a young married couple who both go to college full time. But despite all the hardships, we are the happiest that we have been and are more in love than ever.
I just wanted to share a little bit and let you all know that God is blessing Garrett and me. He is definitely showing us His love through each other, and He is providing for us through all the struggles.
Things are so great and life is good, but we could still definitely use your prayers, especially for our financial situation. Thanks in advance. :)
I will end with saying, I am a very blessed girl. God has given me a loving and amazing husband, a supportive family, a godly school, wonderful friends, and an awesome home church in Boise. I really couldn't ask for anything more. Praise God!

Coolest or Weirdest Boy Ever?? :)

Did you know that I am married to the coolest boy ever? Well, I am. It says so right on his shirt!
I came home from work the other day and Garrett was dressed in this "coolest boy ever" shirt, rolled up black sweat pants, red converse on, and that orange head band wrap around his head! I just started cracking up....he is so weird sometimes! But that is one of the things that I love about him.
We had to go somewhere when I got home and I dared him to where that outfit out, he was pretty close to actually walking out the front door, but his senses got the best of him.
What a funny boy. I just wanted to share with everyone how crazy and funny my hubby is. :)

Some More Family Time

This is my wonderful family-in-law that was able to come to Portland for a day this weekend. It was a great surprise when we got a call this last week that Eliseo had boughten a car that was here in Portland and they would be picking it up this weekend. They arrived friday at 3:00. I had just gotten off work. We all hung around Garrett's and my apartment until Garrett had to go to work at 6:00. Then my in-laws "kidnapped" me, as Dionna puts it, for the night. We went to Garrett's Aunt Brandi's, where the car was and where they would be spending the night. We had dinner, talked, and tried to play a game that we couldn't figure out. I didn't get home until 11:00!
This morning Garrett and I both went to Aunt Brandi's again to have lunch and to say goodbye to the family. Even though it was a short visit, I am so glad that we were able to see them!

And this is Supposed to be Convenient?

I always get my photos printed from Wal Mart. The quality is the best that I have found. The one hour photo is also nice and is always what I do...I just can't wait to see my pictures! I haven't printed any photos since I have been in Portland and I thought that it was about time to get caught up and print some. Also, I am alone until 9:30 tonight and thought it would be nice to scrapbook while Garrett is at work. So, I went online and gathered all my photos that I wanted printed and placed the order for one hour. I prepaid and chose the store that I would pick them up at. It is a Wal Mart that is pretty trashy to say the least... there is one farther down that is nice, but I didn't want to have to drive that much further. Well, I should have stuck with the nice Wal Mart. The convenience of the one hour photo and ordering online were totally thrown out the window. Get ready because here comes some venting...
So, the computer said my prints would be ready by 5:20 PM. I didn't leave my house until 6:00 just to be safe. When I got outside it was pretty windy and rainy, I wasn't looking forward to driving 10 minutes in this weather. But, I finally made it to the store. I get out and find the photo center. I am standing in line when an international man who pretends not to speak english cuts right in front of me! I couldn't believe it! It was a very very obvious cut and it was very obvious that i was in line. Him and his wife just continued talking in a langauge different than english. This shocked me and ticked me off, but of course I didn't say anthing. Here is a grown man and his wife that did this and I am already uncomfortable here...I am the only white person for mile. Not to be rude, but I am being honest. So, anyways in addition the photo associate is clueless and is freaking out, because his coworkers are no where to be seen and he doesn't know what to do in order to help the cutter in front of me. After 10 minutes of waiting I get asked what i need help with. I say I ordered prints online for the one hour photo and need to pick them up. In response I am told that their one hour printing machine is broken and they do not have my prints, and that I need to come back tomorrow. I am informed that they will pay me back the difference of the one hour charge. So, I left the Wal Mart with no pictures in hand, just a very very angry spirit. And, I am still trying to calm down... never will I go to the trashy Wal Mart again...

Time with Family

My mom and brothers were able to come over to Portland for a few days this weekend. They arrived Thursday evening and left this morning (Sunday). We had a great time while they were here. We went to the beautiful Japanese gardens, an awesome pumpkin patch and corn maze, went shopping, went golfing, and watched The Office. It was hard to see them go, but we had a wonderful weekend together. Here are some pics of the weekend.

Garrett's Interview Results

Sorry it took me so long to post again since the last one! In answer to the last post, yes, Garrett did get the job. However, he turned it down due to some wisdom from his father and a lot of thought and discussion between us. It just wouldn't have been stable enough for us. But, the good news is that we found out today that Garrett got a job at Quizno's! So, we are very happy about that and excited! It will be a good job for him, I think. They are really flexible to his school schedule and even asked him what days he would prefer to work and when he told the manager he said ok, and is going to try and make sure he gets those days each week. They seem very nice.
Garrett also feels good about it, because the manager told him that he has a lot of confidence in Garrett and thinks that he won't need much training. So, that made Garrett feel really good. I am gald that he can be encouraged by his job...so I hope that lasts. I think that he might continure to look around for a better paying job, but for now he is glad to have this one! We are just so thankful that he finally got a job! The tough thing was getting an interview. Once he had an interview they both wanted to hire him. I told him that once they meet him they are so impressed that they want him right away! It is hard to tell the character of a person just by an application.
Anyways, just wanted to follow up on my last post. I am so thankful that God gave Garrett this job!
My job is going really well. I like the people I work with a lot. My boss is great. She is 40 and is so much fun to talk to. Anyways, I am very blessed for this job as well.
I think that is about it for now. Just studying hard, working, sleeping, and getting ready for my mid semester break coming up!
...sorry I will not be back home to Boise. Garrett and I both have work and homework. :)
But I miss you all and love you! Good night. :)

Garrett got an interview today! He has applied to a zillion places and hasn't even heard back from a place! He actually applied for this job online last night and got a call this morning and then an interview this afternoon! I am waiting in the school library for him.
I got off work at 3...right when his interview was. It was raining today so he couldn't take the scooter, so he has the car. I have been waiting in the library for 1 hour and 17 minutes now! So, I hope the interview is going well.
I will let you know what happens when I get word. I am just praying very hard right now that he will get it!!!

Prayers Answered!

Well, this icon pretty much says it all. Garrett and I are still hanging on through a very hard financial time. We are barely hanging on, though. Garrett still does not have a job and we are taking in hardly any income. Yet, we have more bills coming in than ever...still from the old apartment and the move etc. Anyways, we had several bills due today that we couldn't pay. I had no idea what we were going to. So I did all that I knew how to do and I came to the Lord. I have been praying about this for days now just begging God to provide and that I would trust Him in it all.
Well, today-the day that the bills were due- I walked to our mail box and there was a letter from the management company of our last apartment. I opened it up and it was a check for $550!! I could not believe it! I was not even expecting this check! I just started laughing and then I just covered my face and almost started crying.
God is just SO good...
I am full with a heart of praise to God and I am still so overwhelmed. I couldn't help but share this with you all.
Thank you Lord!! I praise You!

Edited Wedding Pics

I have finally gotten around to editing some of Garrett's and my wedding pictures. I thought I would post a few of my favorites that I have edited so far...

Still Sick...

I have not been healthy lately. I think that it is finally taking a toll on my body. I have been eating a lot of fast food and haven't been working out at all since we moved to Portland. I think that me sinking into this kind of lifestyle is really weakening my body. My immune system is anything but strong right now. Every since school started I have basically been sick. I felt better for about a week or two and then this last weekend it struck again! I have missed school and work for 4 days now! It is really aweful. I will get up to walk into another room and my body just feels exhausted. I have been sleeping a lot too, which I know I really need. I had to go to 2 classes on Tuesday and 1 today to take tests. Other than that I have been home sleeping and hanging out. It is really hard for me to just stay at home and do basically nothing. I am the kind of person that needs to be doing something and if I haven't accomplished much in a day or done anything productive then I feel like I have wasted the whole day.
I just want to get better! I hate being sick and I can not miss anymore school and work! So, please pray for my health if you think about it. I would really appreciate the prayers. :)

What Comes with College

School is in full swing now and, my oh my, do I have a lot of homework! Of course I expected to have homework, but definitely not this much reading! There is basically no chance that I am going to fit in reading a book for pleasure. I am taking 8 classes: Pentateuch, World Christianity, English, Math, Intro to Fine Arts, Spiritual Life, Student Ministry, and Intro to Church Ministry. That is a full plate if I do say so myself. But, don't get me wrong I am really enjoying college and am grateful that I have the opportunity to attend a Bible college and further my education.

It is so awesome that in most of my classes we either pray or sing worship songs before we start class. I have never expirienced this before in a class room setting, since I have gone to public school my entire life. It is really uplifiting when you hear your prof. pray for you before you take a quiz...

My favorite classes are Pentateuch (the study of the first 5 books of the Bible) and English. This is mainly due to the profs that teach those classes. They are really awesome. Dr. Gary Friesen teaches Pentateuch and has actually written the book:

. He is very smart and open to what students have to say. He always opens up time at the end of class for us to give our opinions and if we agree or disagree with him. My prof for English is Professor Schaak and he makes writing come alive. He is so good at taking a piece of writing and looking at all the different feelings and emotions that are behind it. He also always lets us have discussions and oppose his views. He says that Bible college students these days are too passive and sometimes he has started the semester by saying a straight out lie and none of his students ever challenge him. Once he told our class that we decided we were not going to be so passive and that makes for a really interesting class time.
Anyways, school is going great...I just have a lot of homework! :)

Look at what my husband did...

Yep, he cut my hair.
(P.S. Notice my shoulders are not even, that is because I took this picture myself, thus making my hair look uneven, but I assure you it is even....Don't worry! :) )

A Woman's Heart

I used to have a blog called, A Woman's Heart, but deleted it months ago. Well, I am starting it back up again. A Woman's Heart will contain devotionals, stories about women and God, and things that are on my heart. My personal life blog will still be Everything Wonderful. I have a link to A Woman's Heart on the side bar, and I hope you will take a look!
Thanks!

The Coast

*First off I want to say make sure you scroll down to see the pics from the coast and two more new blogs I wrote about the past two weeks here in Portland! :)

Garrett and I met my grandparents from CO and my dad and family in Newport this week. They came to Portland on Sunday night and headed to the coast on Mon. Garrett and me didn't go over until Tuesday due to our anniversary. I hadn't seen my grandparents since the wedding and I really didn't get to see them then either. So, it was great to see them! My dad rented a house that was right on the coast and we all stayed in that. We had a great time going to the beach, the aquarium, shopping, out to eat, playing games, and to a lighthouse! My favorite thing we did, though, was go whale watching. We went out on a boat pretty far out into the ocean to try and see a whale. We didn't end up seeing one, but Garrett and my dad saw three dolphins! I didn't see anything because I was too busy having fun! haha. The boat went so fast and the waves out that far in the ocean are really big! So, the boat was rocking and dipping all over the place. Garrett and me went to the front part of the boat, stood up, and held on to the railing...let's just say we got soaking wet! I could taste salt all over my lips and in my hair. The waves were just so big and would splash us from where we were standing. My grandma, unfortunatley, didn't have such a good time. She was yelling and yelping for her life! She thought we were going to die she said and while we were on the boat she asked me, "Angela, are you praying?!" I said, "no." And she goes, "well, you better start!" haha. Poor grandma. Anyways, we had a great time with my family and I can't wait to do it again!
