A New Year

I can't believe that 2008 is almost over. What a year. Garrett and I have had a lot of changes in the last year. I finished my first year of college, lived in Portland and then moved back to Boise, had two different jobs, made new friends, met many different people, and made many good memories.
I feel like I am ready for a new year and sort of a fresh start. I don't make new year's resolutions because most of the time I never stick with them. But, I do feel like I want to make a few goals that I can accomplish in this new year.
Here are just a few:
*Spend more time outside. Just walking and enjoying the fresh air.
*Continue excercising. Move up from 3 days a week to 4.
*Eat at home more and drink more water than soda.
*Read my Bible every day.
*Find a new ministry to serve in.
*Create more.
*Go on a date with my husband once a week.
*Spend more time with my little brothers.
*Be a better friend.
*Move to Moscow, Idaho.
*Find a new job.
*Support my husband with his schooling.
*Become a mom...(this might not happen in 2009, but we will see :) )
*Love my enemies.
*Take up the violin again.
*Live each day to the fullest.

I think I can accomplish these, what do you think? :)

Oh No, Not NOW!

I always dread this about this time of year; getting sick! I always try and keep health in my prayers around this time, because the last thing I want is to be sick on Christmas Eve and Day!
Well, I started feeling signs of being sick yesterday during church and sure enough I woke up this morning with a swolllen, swollen throat!
So, today is full of resting on the couch, eating soup, drinking orange juice, and taking a lot of AirBorne.
I am praying that I will be recovered by Christmas Eve. We have 3 different houses to go to between Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, so I have to be healthy!
Anyways, I would very much appreciate all of your prayers that not only me, but others would be healthy enough to enjoy Christmas with family!
Thanks~
And have a Merry Christmas!

Christmas came a little early this year...

Yesterday and today have been so great! Yesterday my little brothers came over to have a snowball fight and to help me build a snowman. It was so cold outside, but really fun playing in the snow. Look at the picture of those huge icicles on our house! Our snowman turned out so cute! Then that night Garrett and I went to see my cousin in a Christmas concert (he was in the choir.)

Today a little bit of Garrett's and my spontaneous ways kicked in... We got home from running some errands tonight and on a whim decided to open our Christmas presents from eachother tonight! All of our presents were just sitting under the tree and we couldn't wait any longer. haha. I can't believe that we actually opened them 9 days early!
My mom said that we were pathetic for not being able to wait until Christmas. But, we didn't and tonight we had our own little family Christmas. Jack (our cat) opened his presents early too.
We will still have presents to open on Christmas Eve and Christmas day, so don't worry about us. ;) haha.
Anyways, Garrett got me some body spray, peppermint bark candy, some really nice mittens, and a stuffed animal that I have been wanting for months. It is a little bunny rabbit from Skunkboy Creatures on Etsy. It is so cute!
I got Garrett an electric razor, a book, pajama pants, a reading light, and a lot of candy in his stocking.
So, that is that...Christmas came a little bit early for us this year. :)

Baking Day!

Every year my mom and I go over to my grandma's house to bake. My brother's also usually come, but their only job to sprinkle the sugar cookies! haha. We make fudge, sugar cookies, no bake cookies, pecan balls, skillet cookies, peppermint chip cookies, and more!
It is always so much fun just talking and eating all the yummy goodies afterwards. I left with SO much stuff! It is definitely a tradition that I hold dear to my heart and love doing every year.
*I forgot to take pictues throughout the day and so I only got a few at the end. The one with me, my grandma, and mom was taken by my little brother...hence the fact that we aren't really centered, but oh well. :)*

O Christmas Time

I am really in the "Christmas" spirit! I am just loving everything about this time of year and can not wait until Christmas Day. Garrett and I have been doing a lot of things to keep us in this spirit, including going to the Festival of Trees. It was a lot of fun to see all of the creative trees and see some dance performances while we were there. We each picked out our favorite tree and voted on it. One of our favorites was an upside down tree! It was so unique! haha. I also had a great laugh when we saw a tree that had "Santa's List" wrapped up in it and I told Garrett, 'let's see if I can find me on there.' What do you know, when I looked down the first name I saw was "Angela!" haha. And apparently I want a doll house. :)

This week I have gotten our Christmas decorations out and put up in the house, wrapped all the gifts that I have gotten so far, and have written out our Christmas cards. Garrett put the lights up on our house, which is special for us because this is our first year to be able to have lights on the outside of where we were living! So that was really fun. Here is the area above our t.v.:
And today we bought our Christmas tree at the Broadway tree lot. We walked up and were greeted by a very friendly Keith Eastman and while he was talking I noticed right behind him a tree that made my heart skip a beat. When he walked away I told Garrett, 'look at this tree! I absolutely love it!' It was perfect to me. So, without looking at any others, we tooked it. And Garrett lifted it above his head and carried it across the parking lot to our place. It was kind of funny in my opinion... :)
We decorated it today and it looks great. Perfect for this perfect Christmas season.

So Thankful

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Garrett and I had a very nice one. We traveled to Salem, Oregon to spend it with his mom and her family. While we were there we took a day and traveled to Portland to go to the one, the only: IKEA! haha. I have really missed that place. It used to be 10 minutes away from me and now it is 7 hours. :(

But, with Thanksgiving this last week and the message on "Thanks" at church yesterday I truly do know that I have so much to be grateful for. I wanted to make a little list to just name a few things that I am truly grateful to God for:
*My husband, Garrett, who gives me so much love and adds so much joy to my life. *My mom and brothers, who are always there for me no matter what.*My grandma Shirley, who would do anything for me. *really ALL of my family, who has taught me something in my lifetime and given me laughs and love.* my in-laws, who really welcomed me into their family and now they feel like my family. * my friends, who have made me laugh until I cry. *my church and church family, who have walked beside me in my journey with Christ and who have helped define and refine me in Him. *The ability to walk, to talk, to see. *To live in the USA, where I am free to praise my God. *A warm place to sleep at night. *Food in my belly. *Hope for my future. *My future children.* God finding me, saving me, forgiving me, and loving me even though I certainly do not deserve it.*
Thank you, Lord, for all of these things and more. You have blessed me far beyond what I could ask for.

I just want to take a moment and say Happy Birthday, Garrett. You bring so much joy and love and adventure to my life. I love you so much and am so grateful that I get to wake up to you every morning. :)

You are funny, creative, talented, caring, loving, handsome, hard working, a spiritual leader, and someday the father of my children. Thank you for being you, I couldn't ask for anything more. :)

I love you....

and HAPPY stinkin BIRTHDAY!!!!

Table Rock

I love that we have something in Boise like Castle and Table Rock to hike. Plus, the beauty of that cross that sits on top is something that really gets me. It is really peaceful up there. Garrett and I climbed up Table Rock multiple times this summer and in the Fall when it was warmer. But since it has gotten a lot colder we decided to drive to the top of Table Rock the other day.
Good idea...but I wasn't diggin it when we reached the top and got out of the car. It was so windy! I was afraid that we would get blown off the edge! haha. Not really, but it made me very chilly and a little bit of a baby. So, I ran back to the car while Garrett took pictures...like a true artist I guess, doesn't matter what the weather it like. :)

HaLlOwEeN!

We had a really fun Halloween this year. We didn't get dressed up, but I did get to wear a really cute jack-O-lantern necklace that I bought just for the occasion. Garrett got off of wok at 3:00 on Friday, so we were able to enjoy a lot of Halloween night.
We first decorated our pumpkins, and they turned out so cute! I just love them. This is the first year that I didn't carve them and decorated instead...I think that I will continue with the decorating in the years to come. It is a lot less messy, they last longer, and they are so creative!

After decorating our pumpkins, I made pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, which were delicious! Then we watched "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown," while we ate our jack-O-lantern pizza from Papa Murphy's. It was really yummy!
When it got a little later (around 7 o'clock) we headed to my grandma's house for her annual Halloween party. It was fun hanging out with family and eating a lot of delicious treats! Trenton dressed up as his favorite person ever... Mario! It was really funny.

So overall it was a great Halloween!

How Sweet...

These are what I was surprised with last week from my great husband. It was so sweet and really made my day. I was doing dishes and waiting for him to come home from work, when he came in the door with these orange beauties. :)
What a great surprise!

Musicals, Parks, & Bowling

What a fun weekend I had! It started off on Friday...if you have any young girls in your house you know what Friday was...the High School Musical 3 premiere!! I went with my awesome mother-in-law and sister-in-laws. It was so much fun in the theatre. It was packed with young girls and everytime Zac Efron (Troy) came on screen screams and oos and aahs flooded the room! haha. It was great. The whole enviornment was just icing on the cake of a really great movie.

Then we went back to the Sanchez casa where the guys were watching the BSU game on tv. Us girls went upstairs and had a dance party to the HSM 3 songs. We were dancing our hearts out and having a great time until all of the sudden Kayla screams at the top of her lungs and she tells us that she saw "daddy" (Eliseo) video taping us as we were dancing...how embarrassing! haha.
So that was Friday night. On Saturday I went with my mom to a Christmas Bazaar at a local church and I bought a really stylish winter scarf. It was handmade by a woman that lives about 5 minutes from us. I wasn't planning on buying anything, but I gave in to this wonderful scarf...I couldn't stop thinking about it.
Then my little brother (Trent), my mom, their dog (Tucker), and I went on a walk at Ann Morrison park. It was a beautiful fall day and the weather was great. It was hilarious, because Trent was holding the leash to Tucker and we were walking along when we saw a gang of geese a few feet away. All of the sudden, Tucker burst into a run towards the geese and Trent's feet flew out from beneath him and then he hits the ground and Tucker drags him across the grass. So, that is funny enough, but then when he stood up we saw what had happened...there was some goose poop on the ground and Tucker took him right through it! It was SO gross! haha. Poor kid.
Here are some pictures from that day.

Then, yesterday we had our first Home Team meeting. It is starting out with 6 of us and will be growing more in the next few weeks to 7. We met at the BSU sub to get to know eachother and just have fun bowling. It was a great time. I can't wait for our next meeting next week when we will start our study. Home Teams are a great thing to have...fellowship is so important. So, I am excited to growing closer to God and meeting new people and making new friends.
So, this was a pretty good weekend and I am grateful for it. :)

This wonderful last week

What a week so far. On Friday (10/17) my grandma had a party for the BSU game, which we won of course! It was fun getting together with family and being able to spend time with my aunts, uncle, and grandma.
Garrett had Tuesday and Wednesday off from work, so we decided to take some time to visit the University of Idaho. Garrett was taking classes online from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, but didn't like the style of learning online. So, now we are trying to figure out what to do. Garrett knows that he wants to major in Architecture, but BSU only has "Pre-Architecture." So, we are trying to figure out where we would go after that. We found out that U of I has a Architecture program, and a good one at that. So, we figured that it would be fun and a good idea to visit the campus.
We loved the drive up from Boise to Moscow. It was so beautiful, especially because it is fall time. Moscow is a pretty small town we found, but the school makes up for it. We were able to get a tour of the school, married housing, and Garrett was able to talk to the Architecture professor. We were very pleased and think that U of I might be in our future... :)
We didn't take many pictures, but here are some of a gorgeous valley that we passed on the way up:

Corn, Pumpkins, & Weddings

This last week Garrett and I were very busy with work and different plans, which included photographing a wedding on Saturday. It was a very nice wedding with beautiful fall colors and the couple were so sweet together, I am so happy for them. I am also glad that we were able to make the extra income this month and have another thing to add to our photography resume.

Speaking of which, during school at Multnomah this last year I had the opportunity to take some pictures of ancient artifacts and Bibles for a book that the vice president was writing. Well, it is now published and out in stores! I recieved a copy in the mail from Dr. Brake (the author) with a wonderful note inside. It is so exciting to see pictures I have taken in a book and have my name under them. This is truly something that I can be proud to put on my resume. If you are interested, the name of the book is "A Visual History of the English Bible: The Tumultuous Tale of the World's Bestselling Book."

To add a little fun to our busy week we went to a corn maze on Thursday. It was a lot of fun picking our own pumpkins and getting lost in Mccain's face! haha. The corn was in the shape of Mccain and Obama...too funny. It really got me in the "fall" mood and I lit my yummy fall candles when I got home and cuddled up with a blanket...like I said before, I LOVE fall!

the BEST season

I love, love, love fall! It is absolutely my favorite season. There is a crisp feeling in the air, the

weather is warm and cool at the same time, the beautiful colors, and all the holidays that are coming make fall special. I love getting to wear my cozy sweaters that have been in the closet for the past 6 months. Oh, and getting to go to the corn maze and pumpkin patch, and drinking hot chocolate on a colder night...love it.
I am really getting in the fall mood and am decorating my house accordingly. I don't have a lot of fall decor since I have only lived on my own for just over 2 years, so I am working on slowly getting more and my loving grandma gets me some decorations each year.
I can't wait until it is all put together and I can really feel "in the season" all the time. :) I just got back from Ross and found some great things to put in my entertainment shelf...so excited!
See how happy I am...fall just makes me that way. :) Happy Autumn everyone!

fAll TiMe

A fun day in the park on the first day of fall and feeling the love in the air. :) hehe.
